My favorite refractor - the TMB 175 refractor
Me and my favorite refractor!

Thanks for stopping by my web page! For those of you who are wondering what you have just stumbled upon, I am just a regular guy living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I became interested in astronomy at the tender age of twelve, inspired by the Apollo missions of the time. By 1986 by interest in photographing the night sky reached a peak and I have been doing this ever since. I have dabbled with many technologies over the years, from dry ice powered cameras using film to cooled digital cameras. You will find a wide range of image types on this site spanning a few decades. Hopefully you will find something you like! The results of my photographic efforts are here. The most recent CCD images are on located here.

Photographing the night sky requires some equipment, some of the gear I use is illustrated here. You can start off with something as simple as a camera on a tripod. For the adventurous types, there literally doesn't appear to be an upper limit on how much you can spend on this hobby!

Once you have some equipment, knowing what to do with it doesn't hurt. The Internet is a fabulous resource for this, loaded with tutorials and how-to's on all types of astrophotography. I will not repeat them here, but have written a couple of articles that may be of interest to a few. They cover more specialized topics and can be seen here.

Thanks again for stopping by! Feel free to poke around for a while. I will change the pictures from time to time as new ones get taken. Sometimes this can be a while as we seem to swing from a frozen wasteland to the land of the midnight sun! There is a brief window between these extremes that allows me to get out and shoot new pictures.
