Description

IC 1871 is an emission nebula in Cassiopeia. The brightest component has an apparent dimension of 4 arc-minutes.

The above image is the result of a total of 13 hours of narrowban imaging aimed at capturing the SII/Ha/OIII emission light of this nebula,, combined using the Hubble palette, and cropped for composition purposes.

 

Imaging Session

  • Date: Ha: December 10, 2008, SII/OIII: November 11 & 12, 2009, processed on January 25, 2010
  • Target Coordinates (J2000) : RA = 02h 57m 22s, Dec = +60:40:20 (J2000)
  • Exposure: Ha: 13 x 15 minutes, OIII: 14 x 20 minutes, SII: 15 x 20 minutes. All unbinned and imaged at -25C
  • Camera: SBIG ST-10XME with AstroDon Ha/SII/OIII 6 nm filters
  • Equipment: Takahashi FS-152 f/8 on Takahashi NJP mount
  • Guiding: external guidescope Takahashi FS-60C and Meade DSI Pro
  • Observatory control and automation software: CCD Commander V1.5.34, Maxim DL V4.56, FocusMax 3.4.1
  • Location: Theberge Remote Observatory, Robosky, Orangeville, Ontario
