- Description: These are dark nebula Barnard 142 and Barnard 143, in silhouette against a rich backdrop of stars. This is also known as
"Barnard's E" due to the distinctive shape of these nebula. The smaller dark nebula in the upper right are Barnards 334, 336 and 337. The
small patch on the left side is Barnad 340. The bright star Altair, one of the Summer Triangle stars, is just outside this field to the lower
left. Visible in binoculars under a dark sky! This photo was shot under the dark skies at the Southern Alberta Star Party near the Cypress Hills in S.E. Alberta.
