IC5146 - The cocoon Nebula
IC5146 - The cocoon Nebula
  • Description: IC5146 - The Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus. This shot was taken from home in Calgary under Bortle 8-9 skies. (bad ones) This filter poked through light pollution just fine allowing the capture of faint hydrogen light. This makes the dark nebula almost float against the background nebulosity in Cygnus.
Also known as Caldwell 19, Sh2-125. The dark nebulosity is known as Barnard 168 or The Caterpillar Nebula.
