Messier 8 - Open Cluster and emission nebula

Description: Open Cluster and emission nebula in Sagittarius. Open cluster M21 and the Trifid nebula (M20) are located near the top of the image, Messier 8 - the Lagoon Nebula - is the large red nebula. One of my last film images! The open cluster inside M8 is NGC6530 and glows at magnitude 4.6, containing about 113 stars. Film: Kodak Ektachrome E200 Scope: 8" f1.5 Schmidt camera Exposure: 3 x 4 Minutes, digitally stacked.
