Messier 20 (Trifid Nebula)
Messier 20
  • Description: Emission/Reflection Nebula in Sagittarius. One of the "first light" astrophotos from the club's Celstron C14. This photo was extremely difficult to guide as the periodic error in the drive system was terrible. This is what drove us to upgrade the drive system to a Byers gear. A HUGE improvement!

  • Camera: Canda Technologies dry-ice cold camera
  • Film: Kodak Ektachrome 400
  • Scope: Celestron C-14 at F/7
  • Exposure: 20 minutes, manually guided
  • Location: Wilson Coulee Observatory, Alberta
  • Date: July 29, 1990
